Your rug is built for real family life โ here's how to keep it looking its best for years.
A beautiful rug is an investment. With basic care, your rug will look as good in five years as it does today. Here's the routine that keeps our rugs looking their best.
Weekly: vacuum gently
Use the lowest suction setting and avoid the beater bar on high-pile rugs (it pulls fibres). Vacuum in the direction of the pile, not against it.
Monthly: rotate
Turn the rug 180ยฐ so wear and sun-fade distribute evenly. Especially important for rugs in front of windows or in busy walkways.
Immediately: blot spills
Always blot, never rub. Press a clean white cloth onto the spill from the outside in. For liquids, follow up with a tiny amount of mild dish soap diluted in cool water.
Twice a year: deep clean
Most of our rugs are machine-washable up to a certain size. For larger rugs, professional cleaning every 1โ2 years extends their life dramatically.
Never:
- Use bleach or harsh chemicals
- Tumble dry (always air dry flat)
- Place wet rugs back on hardwood floors โ risk of warping
- Steam-clean unless the label says it's safe
Storing for the summer?
Vacuum thoroughly, roll (don't fold) the rug pile-side in, and store in a cool dry place wrapped in a breathable cotton sheet. Avoid plastic bags โ they trap moisture.
