Tonal Medallion Rug — Crimson
About this rug
A single large medallion worked tone on tone in crimson
A single large medallion worked tone on tone in crimson, visible from one angle and gone from another.
The medallion is woven in the same colour family as the ground, so it catches the light rather than contrasting with it. Walk past and the pattern appears and recedes. It gives a room the structure of a traditional rug without the strong colour breaks that make one hard to place.
Why crimson works in a living room
Red and burgundy anchor a room. Dark enough to disguise everyday traffic, warm enough to stop a pale sofa looking stranded, and forgiving in a hallway that sees muddy shoes.
Woven in Turkey, built for daily life
The Tonal Medallion Rug is woven in Turkey from 100% polyester on a cotton weft, at a 6mm pile — deep enough to feel soft underfoot, shallow enough to clear an internal door and to take a dining chair pushed back without catching. At 2,200 g/m² it has genuine weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it.
The yarn is space dyed before weaving rather than printed afterwards. That is why the colour has depth and shifts a little as you move around it, and why it will not fade to a flat block the way a printed rug does. The ends are finished with a self-fringe and the sides are overlocked, so nothing is raw or cut.
- 100% Polyester pile on a cotton weft — soft underfoot and hard-wearing

- Space dyed yarn — colour that holds rather than fades flat
- Self-fringe ends, overlocked sides
- Stain resistant — spills blot away rather than soaking in
- Five sizes, 100x300cm through to 300x400cm

Which size do I need?
In a living room, aim to get the front legs of your sofa and chairs onto the rug. 160x230cm suits most UK sitting rooms; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider; 240x340cm and 300x400cm are for open-plan rooms where the rug needs to define the seating area on its own. 100x300cm is a long, narrow size that suits a hallway, a landing, or the side of a bed.
Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge of the table so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.
Looking after it
This is a spot-clean rug, not a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. Treated that way it will hold its colour for years.
A crimson rug with the character of an older piece, made to cope with a great deal more than an older piece could.
