About this rug

A painterly abstract in weathered greys

A painterly abstract in weathered greys, with rust and ink-blue breaking through like pigment lifted off an old canvas.

There is no repeat to find and no border to frame it — the design behaves like a canvas rather than a carpet, which is what makes it sit well in a room that already has a lot going on. The greys carry most of the field, with rust, ochre and a cold blue surfacing in patches, so it picks up warm and cool furnishings equally.

Why grey multi works in a living room

Grey is the safest colour in a room you have already decorated — it picks up whatever is around it instead of competing, and it works equally over oak, laminate and dark wood.

Woven in Turkey, built for daily life

The Painted Abstract Rug is woven in Turkey from 100% polyester on a cotton weft, at a 6mm pile — deep enough to feel soft underfoot, shallow enough to clear an internal door and to take a dining chair pushed back without catching. At 2,200 g/m² it has genuine weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it.

The yarn is space dyed before weaving rather than printed afterwards. That is why the colour has depth and shifts a little as you move around it, and why it will not fade to a flat block the way a printed rug does. The ends are finished with a self-fringe and the sides are overlocked, so nothing is raw or cut.

  • 100% Polyester pile on a cotton weft — soft underfoot and hard-wearing
  • 6mm pile height, 2,200 g/m² weight
  • Space dyed yarn — colour that holds rather than fades flat
  • Self-fringe ends, overlocked sides
  • Stain resistant — spills blot away rather than soaking in
  • Five sizes, 100x300cm through to 300x400cm
  • Free UK mainland delivery and 30 days to change your mind

Which size do I need?

In a living room, aim to get the front legs of your sofa and chairs onto the rug. 160x230cm suits most UK sitting rooms; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider; 240x340cm and 300x400cm are for open-plan rooms where the rug needs to define the seating area on its own. 100x300cm is a long, narrow size that suits a hallway, a landing, or the side of a bed.

Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge of the table so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.

Looking after it

This is a spot-clean rug, not a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. Treated that way it will hold its colour for years.

A grey multi rug with the character of an older piece, made to cope with a great deal more than an older piece could.
