Grey washing from dark to light across the whole rug

The colour shifts gradually from a deep slate at one edge to almost white at the other, broken up by fine horizontal striations and the ghost of a rectangle or two. There is no pattern to orient and no border to line up, so it can be laid whichever way round the room wants it.

Why grey works in a living room

Grey is the safest choice in a room you have already decorated — it picks up what is around it instead of competing, and it works equally over oak, laminate and dark wood.

How it is made

Woven in Turkey from 100% acrylic on a cotton backing, at a 10mm pile. At 2,100 g/m² it has real weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it. Colour is dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards, which is why it has depth and will not fade to a flat block.

Which size do I need?

160x230cm suits most uk sitting rooms and is the size to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider, or under a six-seat dining table; the smaller sizes suit a bedside, a hallway or a study; 80x300cm is a runner for a hall or a landing.

Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.

Looking after it

This is a spot-clean rug rather than a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. The full care guide is on the Care tab.
