Ikat Medallion Rug
About this rug
A Persian medallion with its edges feathered out into ikat
The layout is a traditional one — centre medallion, framed panels, deep border — but every edge is broken into the flickering, feathered line of an ikat, as though the pattern were dyed into the yarn before weaving. The result reads as antique from across the room and as something much more modern close up.
3 colours to choose from
Made in beige, grey and anthracite. Beige sits between warm and cool, which is why it is the most forgiving neutral in a room with mixed woods and metals. Grey is the safest choice in a room you have already decorated — it picks up what is around it instead of competing, and it works equally over oak, laminate and dark wood.
How it is made
Woven in Turkey from 100% micro polyester on a cotton backing, at a 7mm pile. At 1,950 g/m² it has real weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it. Colour is dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards, which is why it has depth and will not fade to a flat block.

- Fringed ends, overlocked sides

Which size do I need?
160x230cm suits most uk sitting rooms and is the size to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider, or under a six-seat dining table; the smaller sizes suit a bedside, a hallway or a study; 80x300cm is a runner for a hall or a landing.
Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.
Looking after it
This is a spot-clean rug rather than a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. The full care guide is on the Care tab.
