Heritage Palmette Rug
About this rug
A classical palmette garden, faded back until it reads as texture
Palmettes, vines and split leaves fill the field from border to border in the manner of a nineteenth-century Turkish carpet, then the whole thing is washed back so the drawing survives but the contrast does not. In beige it is almost tonal; in multi, flecks of green, rose and indigo come back through the pattern.
2 colours to choose from
Made in beige and multi. Beige sits between warm and cool, which is why it is the most forgiving neutral in a room with mixed woods and metals. A multi-coloured rug gives a plain room its entire scheme, and it is the most forgiving thing to live with because nothing has to match it exactly.
How it is made
Woven in Turkey from 100% polyester on a cotton backing, at a 8mm pile. At 2,650 g/m² it has real weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it. Colour is dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards, which is why it has depth and will not fade to a flat block.

Which size do I need?
160x230cm suits most uk sitting rooms and is the size to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider, or under a six-seat dining table; 240x340cm and 300x400cm are for open-plan rooms where the rug has to define the seating area on its own; the smaller sizes suit a bedside, a hallway or a study; 80x300cm is a runner for a hall or a landing.
Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.
Looking after it
This is a spot-clean rug rather than a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. The full care guide is on the Care tab.
