Faded Damask Rug
About this rug
Damask medallions dissolving into a warm beige ground
Large ogee medallions repeat up the rug, but only parts of each one have survived the wash — a shoulder here, a flower there — so the pattern appears and disappears across the surface. The ground is a warm sandy beige and the surviving drawing is pale cream, which keeps the whole thing within one colour family.
Why beige works in a living room
Beige sits between warm and cool, which is why it is the most forgiving neutral in a room with mixed woods and metals.
How it is made
Woven in Turkey from viscose & micro polyester on a cotton backing, at a 12mm pile. At 2,850 g/m² it has real weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it. Colour is dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards, which is why it has depth and will not fade to a flat block.

Which size do I need?
160x230cm suits most uk sitting rooms and is the size to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider, or under a six-seat dining table; 240x340cm and 300x400cm are for open-plan rooms where the rug has to define the seating area on its own; the smaller sizes suit a bedside, a hallway or a study.
Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.
Looking after it
This is a spot-clean rug rather than a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. The full care guide is on the Care tab.
