A saturated field of classical drawing, framed by an ornate border

This is the one design in the Peru range that keeps its colour. The field is a deep indigo or a warm terracotta, filled with upright flowering stems in cream and gold, and the border is as heavily worked as the field. It is the traditional choice — the rug that makes a room look like it has always been that way.

2 colours to choose from

Made in blue and terracotta. Blue is the most requested rug colour in British homes. Against grey seating and oak floors it reads as considered rather than bold. Warm reds and terracottas anchor a room. Dark enough to disguise everyday traffic, warm enough to stop a pale sofa looking stranded.

How it is made

Woven in Turkey from 100% polyester on a cotton backing, at a 6mm pile. At 1,700 g/m² it has real weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it. Colour is dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards, which is why it has depth and will not fade to a flat block.

Which size do I need?

160x230cm suits most uk sitting rooms and is the size to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider, or under a six-seat dining table; 240x340cm and 300x400cm are for open-plan rooms where the rug has to define the seating area on its own; the smaller sizes suit a bedside, a hallway or a study; 80x300cm is a runner for a hall or a landing.

Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.

Looking after it

This is a spot-clean rug rather than a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. The full care guide is on the Care tab.
