About this rug

Arches, bars and fine combing, all carved in a single colour

A vocabulary of half-circles, blocks and closely ruled lines is arranged across the rug with no symmetry and no repeat, so it reads as a composition rather than a pattern. Everything is done tone on tone in a soft acrylic pile — the design is made entirely by the direction the yarn lies in and the shadow it throws.

3 colours to choose from

Made in cream, beige and grey. Cream and ivory lift a dark room and make a small one feel larger. They ask a little more care by a front door, but in a sitting room or bedroom they do more for the space than a dark rug can. Beige sits between warm and cool, which is why it is the most forgiving neutral in a room with mixed woods and metals.

How it is made

Woven in Turkey from 100% acrylic on a cotton backing, at a 7mm pile. At 1,800 g/m² it has real weight, so it lies flat from the first day and stays where you put it. Colour is dyed into the yarn before weaving rather than printed on afterwards, which is why it has depth and will not fade to a flat block.

Which size do I need?

160x230cm suits most uk sitting rooms and is the size to pick if you want the front legs of the sofa and chairs on the rug; 200x290cm works where the seating is spread wider, or under a six-seat dining table; 240x340cm and 300x400cm are for open-plan rooms where the rug has to define the seating area on its own; the smaller sizes suit a bedside, a hallway or a study; 80x300cm is a runner for a hall or a landing.

Under a dining table, allow around 60cm beyond each edge so chairs stay on the rug when they are pulled out.

Looking after it

This is a spot-clean rug rather than a washable one. Vacuum on a low, suction-only setting, blot spills as they happen, and rotate it every few months so it wears evenly. The full care guide is on the Care tab.
